This project was part of a half-semester long iterative design process with the goal of making a robot that would complete a simple task in a room or dorm. Given this prompt, our team decided to go with an automatic window blind mechanism that could be controlled wirelessly using a controller. This specific robot interfaces with ball chain blinds and is able to both raise and lower the blinds at a decent speed. I specifically worked on the ball chain interface that would connect the output of our custom gearbox to the bottom loop of a ball chain, and on the custom gearbox we made in order to provide the necessary force to pull the ball chain in either direction. The project was designed in SolidWorks, and assembled and tested on a ball chain blind and produced successful results in actuating the blinds remotely.
