ABOUT

Hello! My name is Ruben Fonseca, and I am a current Masters student at the University of Michigan studying Robotics. I pursued my Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at Harvard University, and alongside my past education, I have been a part of several individual and team-based experiences, including multiple course-based projects, personal projects, and engineering research and development.

I was formerly a mechanical engineering intern for Northrop Grumman Mission Systems where I focused on hardware design for the Tactical Fighters Hardware department. Additionally, I am a former research assistant at the Harvard Biodesign Lab, where I worked for two periods of time: 2022 and 2024. During my first period of work, I focused on designing and iterating mechanical structural components and running tensile stress tests for a wearable robotic device targeting stroke survivors with limited plantarflexion/dorsiflexion mobility. For my time in the lab in 2024, I built and developed a digital twin of an existing pneumatic robotic device in MATLAB Simulink that assists hemiparetic individuals with activities of daily living, and additionally created an empirical method to find critical pneumatic parameters for components in the existing system.

I have a keen interest in pursuing a career in robotics or the aerospace industry, and am currenlty seeking a full-time entry level position to refine and and broaden my experience in the field of mechanical design, mechatronics, and propulsion, and mechanical testing.

Feel free to contact me regarding potential employment opportunities. I would love to chat!
